Meet the Future — Delkii!
A
whole new country! But the same time-tested OneSky Approach to early childhood intervention that has transformed hurt children’s lives these past 20 years…. As I watch the magic begin to happen in Mongolia for children like Delkii*, and reflect on another incredible year, I feel both blessed to be given the opportunity to do this good work, and a little bit overwhelmed by the task before us.
China is requesting more orphanage training in more places. With our Chinese partner, Chunhui Children, we’re opening a small medical care home for orphans in Shanghai. We’re expanding our programs for left-behind babies, toddlers, and preschoolers to more rural villages in China.
The government in Vietnam has asked us to continue supporting the work at our model OneSky Early Learning Center in Da Nang for an additional two years, and to expand our training of home-based childcare providers to 19 more provinces.
And just as I write this, after yesterday’s traditional worship ceremony, work is beginning on the renovation of our future OneSky Global Centre for Early Childhood Development, an early learning center for children of the poor in Hong Kong (and yes, there are many thousands) and our training base for the Asia Pacific Region.
A little overwhelming, yes. But we know without a doubt, that our OneSky Approach works. The children have taught us that. It works and the need is so great…. With our amazing family of supporters walking beside us, I truly never doubt that we will get where we are going one day.
With love and thanks,
Jenny
