The Power of Responsive Care
At the core of the OneSky Approach is responsive care.
Young children learn best from back-and-forth social interactions with caring adults who respond to their unique cues, needs and interests. We train caregivers to provide responsive early stimulation, play and learning opportunities that are appropriate for a child’s age and stage of development. When caregivers consistently provide responsive care, children form a secure attachment and trusting relationship with the adults in their lives – supporting healthy physical, cognitive, language, social and emotional development.
The World Health Organization lists responsive care as the #1 recommendation for improving early childhood development.
“Responsive caregiving recognizes that every child has unique needs and preferences and that young children learn best through back-and-forth social interactions with trusted adults.”
Our Programs
In China, we train caregivers in child welfare institutions and rural communities to provide family-like care for vulnerable young children.
In Vietnam, we train independent childcare providers who care for the children of migrant workers in industrial zones.
In Mongolia, we provide family skills training to support young children living in migrant communities.
In Hong Kong, the P.C. Lee OneSky Global Centre for Early Childhood Development provides family and professional caregiver training.
