The Sprout Tops Community Gives Love to the Children
We’d like to extend our warmest thanks to Sprout Tops, who recently held a one-week fundraiser, benefitting Half the Sky.
Sprout Tops donated 40% of a week’s sales to help children in our programs, explains owner Jessica McComas:
My husband Carson and I have 6 children, 3 of whom we were blessed to adopt from China. We wanted to find a way to give back and to help more children.
First, I started an advocacy website called TwentyLess to help children find families, and then last year I also started Sprout Tops. I knew someone who made beautiful crochet hats, and by donating 10% of our profits to organizations that help orphans, I knew it was also a great way to give back. This year, in honor of National Adoption Month, we wanted to do something extra special, so we increased the percentage donated to 40% and chose one organization per week to donate to.
We didn’t have any personal experience with Half the Sky but a fellow adoptive parent suggested it and almost immediately, several families expressed their interest in supporting this campaign.
They were willing to share stories and pictures of their children, who were helped by Half the Sky
My husband and I looked through Half the Sky’s website and watched the videos. We were so touched and impressed by the massive good that Half the Sky is doing, that we dedicated week 3 of our fundraiser to you.
The fundraiser was a success! The monster hat was our most popular item that week, with the owl and panda hats coming in a close second.
This was a favorite week of mine because it felt like a community was coming together to give love to the children.
